Photoshop Tutorial – Colour Method 1 points

Accent colors in Photoshop

Fun techniques for use in Photoshop is the accent color. You can add emphasis to your photos by doing black and white photos and then let the true colors show through on the item selected. You can hit your child in the picture by doing everything but this black and white, or bright colors bring a single flower. Bright colors work best. I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS3 for this tutorial, but you mustFollow the same instructions for all versions of Photoshop.

Open your photo in Photoshop and use the crop tool if necessary.

Layer Panel to right click the background layer and select duplicate layer. If your Layers panel is not visible go to Window in the menu bar and select palette. By default the new layer is called Background copy. You can rename the layer if you want by clicking twice on the name of the layer in the Layers Panel.

Jobmake sure your new layer selected in the Layers Panel. The selected layer is blue. In the menu bar, select Image> Adjustments> Black & White.

A window will appear that allows you to adjust how black and white layer visible. For this example I left the default settings, but you can play around with the options available preset or change the color of the bar to make the images as you want.

Now the fun begins. Make sure your layers of black and whiteon layers of color and still have been selected. Select the Eraser Tool from the Tools Panel and select the appropriate brush size to what you delete. Also set the opacity of the eraser. A higher percentage of opacity will enable more true color to show through. I used 100% opacity in this example.

Delete where you want to show the original color. You will see that because black and white layer selected, only black and white images will be deleted allowingcolor to show through.
