This is a more serious photographer type article, but a lot of amateur photographers are into taking pictures at sports games too, especially those with children. Sport photography is not the easiest medium of photography to master. With fast action and a lot going on an inexperienced photographer will produce unsatisfactory blurry images or just boring ones with too much grass and no colors and no emphasis on action. Techniques
Close shots are important, sport is very physical and pictures should reflect that, if you are photographing a contact sport try and get a shot of an intense moment like a tackle or intercept. There is a lot of emotion involved in sport as well, the exhilaration of scoring a goal, the pain and sadness of a loss. Try to emphasize these by capturing expressions and body language and linking them together. There are limited colors on a sport field so try in include grass, sky and players uniforms which are almost always contrasting colors. Sport is fast and action packed, so show that through your pictures, try panning your camera with a moving player or ball, with a bit of practice you can achieve a shot in which the player or ball is completely in focus and the background is blurred.
Lighting
Not much to speak of here, try to keep the sun behind you to light the players well, because fast pictures need lots of light. A flash can be useful for freezing action but can give an undesirable effect. Also, if you are photographing a night game be sure to set your white balance or else your shots will look alien and tungsten. This also applies to using the correct film in a film camera.
Lenses
Close shots are important, especially on players faces and there intense actions. A zoomed in lens or a telephoto is best, especially a telephoto since you can adjust the zoom while shooting.
Camera Settings
These vary widely, but the main rule is to try and get a clear shot, this relies on two factors: aperture and shutter speed, achieving a balance between the two is important. With an aperture that is to wide, some of the picture will be blurry, which is not commonly desired. However, the wider the aperture, the faster you can set the shutter speed, if the shutter speed is too slow then your subjects will be blurred and unclear.

How to Resize Pictures in Photoshop – 3 Easy Steps to Email-Sized Images
Resizing images is one of the quickest things you can do in Photoshop. If you’re uploading photos online or emailing them to friends and family, the massive pictures that come off your digital camera (or photo cd) are going to take forever to send, and may even not by received because of their size.
To start, load photoshop and open the image file. Now that you’ve gotten the image loaded, Go to the Image menu at the top, and click Image Size. Input the size that you want the image to scale down to, and hit the OK button.
You should choose your image size based on where you plan on using the image. When you’ve selected the size and hit okay, simply go to the File menu and hit Save As. If you just hit save, it’ll overwrite your source image and you’ll lose the higher resolution version. When I make copies of images, I usually store them as filename_resolution.jpg (for example: filename_1024x768.jpg for an image scaled down to 1024×768). This lets you easily keep track of all the resized versions of your images.

aerial photography is an important commercial skill that really can increase revenue many working photographers. Preparation in the air> Photography. To begin with aerial photographs, it is not as difficult as it seems at first. In most cases, access should be the aircraft of some sort is needed. However, there are thousands of pilots who are willing to hire a plane for you to finish your work. Check with your local or regional airport about leasing flights for photography. Let them know what and where you are interested in taking pictures, and they mustpoint you in the right direction. Based on my experience, be prepared to pay $100-$300 per hour chartering a fixed wing aircraft, depending on your area and the type of aircraft available. For helicopter rentals, look to pay about 30% more.
Best time of day to take aerial photographs. As with most types of outdoor photography, early morning and late afternoon time frames will yield the most pleasing photographs. It is at this time that the sun’s rays produce warmer colors and longer shadows which produce more brilliant colors and beautiful shadows. The longer shadows associated with this time frame add depth to your photographs, by better defining the contours of land or structures.
However, selecting a time of day is also dependent on the type of photography you are trying to capture. During the middle of the day, the lighting is flat which may be better suited to your specific needs, i.e., documenting a construction project, or commercial real estate. Understanding the goals of your photographic mission will greatly impact when you elect to charter a flight.
Best equipment for aerial photography. Selecting the appropriate equipment for aerial photography is a major consideration. Before making any photographic equipment decisions, you must first define how the photos will be used. In most cases, aerial photos will be used for larger prints. Even if you are only shooting images for newspaper or tabloid reproduction, you will want to capture the images in as large a file size or negative size as possible. If you are shooting film, I would suggest no format under 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″. If you want to shoot film and don’t have a larger format camera, borrow or lease one before you schedule the flight. For digital photographers, I would recommend using the largest file size available with your model camera. By not capturing the images in the highest resolution possible, you have greatly diminished the ability for additional uses of these photographs.
Determining the optimal focal length to use, will be influenced with the type of aircraft you select, the subject matter you are documenting, and how close you are able to get to your subject. From personal experience, I most often use the equivalent of a 35mm-50mm lens for the 35mm camera format. You will want to be cautious using a telephoto lens due to the vibration of the aircraft.
Best exposure for aerial photography. In general, I recommend using a shutter speed of 1/500 -1/1000. This shutter speed range is sufficient to stop most action from a moving aircraft and to minimize aircraft vibration. While photographing from 1000 feet or higher, the subject will not be moving as quickly as you think. Choosing the maximum shutter speed, such as 1/2000 or higher, basically robs you of depth of field since you need to open up the lens more to compensate for the higher speed. On the subject of aperture setting, you will want to be in the f/5.6-f/11 range for most subjects. For those familiar with hyperfocal distances, since the closest subject in your photograph will be greater than 1000 feet, depth of field is not a main concern. Keep in mind the middle of your aperture range for a particular lens produces the sharpest images.

Basic Photoshop CS2 Tools
Ok well let’s start with the basic tools, first if you haven’t got a tools box then go Window then tick tools. In the box that will appear on the left of your screen will be all the tools you will need to make anything you won’t. At the top of the box is a feather, clicking this takes you to the Photoshop website incase you have any major problems, Under that we have 2 icons first icon is a rectangle box (m), with this box you can do things like highlight certain parts of what You do and move them about. Second is the icon Arrow (v), is used to move objects that you put onto the screen, and also to transfer the text after you add text. Then in the bottom two icons that we have a lasso tool (l), lasso tool is used to image a plume to the screen or paste careful to draw a picture round.
Next is the icon Magic Wand Tool (w). It is used to highlight the image of a fighter EG lap in the middle of your Magic Wand click on the bannertool and then click next to the picture, this will highlight all parts of what you pasted that has no part of the image then press delete this leave you with just the picture (Better used with a render). Next tool is the Crop Tool (c). This too allows you to crop thing such as an image used in the same way as a screen shot you’ve taken and posted in Microsoft Word. Next is the slice tool (k) the slice tool allows you to take what your doing part by part. Next is the spot healing tool (j), this tool allows you to mend a part of a broken picture. E.g. you accidentally removed part of a picture or color background select this tool and click on the part that is wrong and it will fix it. Brush tool (b) the brush tool is used for making good backgrounds and also on new layers they have different types so that you get a different effect with every brush you use.
Clone Stamp Tool (s), this is used for taking a certain part of what’s on the screen (what ever you click with this tool) and will clone what you click. History Brush Tool (y), this tool is used in the same way as undoing something on Microsoft E.g. you drew a bane out of place go over that line with this tool and it’ll undo it bit by bit ( does the opposite to the brush tool).Eraser tool (e), Used for rubbing out anything on the background. Gradient Tool (g) this allows you to click and drag a line on the banner. Select a color gradient at the top and click and dragon on the banner as this goes along the color will match the gradient type that you choose at the top. Blur Tool(r) this blurs what ever you blur with this tool. Right click the tool and you can also get the smudge and sharpen tool. Dodge Tool (o) This tool is used to change the background effect and any other layer, Right clicking this gives you a dodge, sponger and burn option. Path Selection Tool (a) Allows you select another path to what you’re looking for. Text Tool, This allows you to add text to your project, you can change the text style by clicking once on the Text tool selected style.
Pen Tool (P), allows you to create a line that changes color and shape of the project. Rectangle Tool (u), it is like another rectangle tool but when clicking and dragging the rectangle size is fill in the color selected above. Notes Tool (n), allows you to attach notes to your project. Eyedropper tool (I) This tool allows you to select a specific color by clicking the color that you do not project.Hand Tool (h), when zoomed in this tool allows you to move around the project E.g. if you need to move to one side and you’re in the middle using this tool lets you move the project over. Zoom Tool (z) this zooms in on anything your making, to zoom back out keep clicking the zoom tool. Color boxes, Foreground and Background the top color is Foreground this is anything you do say getting a brush what ever color is in this section will be brushed on, Background when starting a new project what ever is in this section will be the background color. Bottom picture in the tool bar will switch what you’re doing to Image Ready instead of Photoshop, and vise verse.
